The artificial intelligence research arm of Russia’s largest mobile phone-carrier MTS plans to setup a $100 million venture fund and accelerator to invest in startups. The fund and accelerator would focus on AI startups working on language, image and behavior analytics, edge computing and logistics.
“We can understand and evaluate projects at the earliest stage. There are plenty of large funds but most of them are generalists and they don’t have deep expertise in any particular industry,” says Alexey Posternak, CFO of MTS AI.
